For lo, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.

That’s why our ancestors died violent deaths, while our sons, daughters, and wives were taken captive.
Here, our ancestors have fallen by the sword; and on this account our sons, daughters and wives have gone into captivity.

And behold, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.
Behold, our fathers are fallen by the sword, our sons, and our daughters, and wives are led away captives for this wickedness.
That is why our ancestors were killed in battle. Our sons, daughters, and wives were made prisoners.
You know that cruel enemies killed our fathers. They took away our sons, our daughters and our wives as their prisoners. That was God's punishment.
Look! Our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons, our daughters, and our wives are in captivity because of this.
For behold, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.

Now look! Our ancestors have been killed with swords and our sons, daughters, and wives are being held captive because of all of this.
For, behold, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.

Our fathers have been killed in war, and our sons and daughters and wives are in captivity because of this.
In the first month of the first year of his reign, Hezekiah, having first repaired the doors of The Temple of God, threw them open to the public. He assembled the priests and Levites in the court on the east side and said, “Levites, listen! Consecrate yourselves and consecrate The Temple of God—give this much-defiled place a good housecleaning. Our ancestors went wrong and lived badly before God—they discarded him, turned away from this house where we meet with God, and walked off. They boarded up the doors, turned out the lights, and canceled all the acts of worship of the God of Israel in the holy Temple. And because of that, God’s anger flared up and he turned those people into a public exhibit of disaster, a moral history lesson—look and read! This is why our ancestors were killed, and this is why our wives and sons and daughters were taken prisoner and made slaves.
Observe, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and now our sons, daughters, and wives are in captivity for all this.
Our fathers were killed in battle, and our sons, daughters, and wives are prisoners because of this.
For our ancestors fell by the sword, and our sons, our daughters, and our wives have been taken captive because of this.
For behold, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons, our daughters, and our wives are in captivity because of this.

For indeed, because of this our fathers have fallen by the sword; and our sons, our daughters, and our wives are in captivity.
See, our fathers have fallen by the sword. And our sons, our daughters and our wives have been taken away to a strange land because of this.
Because of this, our fathers have been killed in battle, and our sons and daughters and wives have been captured.
Our fathers have fallen by the sword and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.
